You’ve decided you want to visit Amsterdam. Cool! Of course, it’s super important to know how many days you’ll need in Amsterdam to make the most of your trip. Lucky you! Because we’re here with the answer. Depending on what you’d like to do, you’ll need 3 to 6 days to get the full Amsterdam experience. We’ve made a list of things to do and places to visit during your stay in Amsterdam.
Are you hesitant to visit Amsterdam because of the current COVID-19 situation? Don’t worry! You’ll still be able to enjoy the city, just with a few restrictions. We’ll start this blog with those, so you can start to plan your trip with confidence.
COVID-19 rules in Amsterdam
- There are no restrictions on travel within The Netherlands, just avoid busy places;
- Always wear a facemark when using public transportation;
- Restaurants, cafés and outdoor seating areas are open in The Netherlands, but special restrictions (social distancing = 1.5 meter distance between seating) apply. Reservations are often required;
- Museums and monuments are open but may require reservations. So, book those in advance to avoid disappointment.
What to do in Amsterdam

Amsterdam, capital of The Netherlands, is home to more than one hundred kilometers of Canals, about 90 islands and a whopping 1,500 bridges. Enjoy a brisk walk through the city and be amazed!

Parks in Amsterdam
When the weather is nice, Amsterdam has a lot of beautiful parks to enjoy. Relax for a bit, after a full day of exploring the city, or have a little picnic. Our faves? Vondelpark, Westerpark or Oosterpark. A cool atmosphere and a bunch of hip people guaranteed!

Amsterdam is full of cute little streets and houses. Of course, this gives you the opportunity to create a nice – Insta worthy – shot. Don’t forget to check with the owner if it’s okay to sit on their stairs when you see them. Not everyone is as much of a fan of the ‘gram as we are…

W Hotel Amsterdam
This hidden gem is one of our all time favorites in Amsterdam. Have a drink and enjoy the amazing view over Amsterdam. When the weather is nice, you can even have a cheeky dip in their magical pool. You will not regret staying or visiting this – very central – hotel. It kinda reminds us of Rome, doesn’t it?

P.S. Festival season in Amsterdam
While most festivals are cancelled right now, due to COVID, we’re hoping for a swift return of the magic, next year. Amsterdam usually has tons of amazing music festivals during the summer. We’ll get back to this topic another time.
